The price tag on engagement rings can differ massively from humble and affordable to massively extravagant. Although the cost of an engagement ring doesn’t matter because it’s the love behind it that is the most important part. There are some rings that boast an impressive price tag, mostly from celebrities; here are a few of the top contenders.

One of the most famous celebrity engagement rings of all time belonged to Jacqueline Kennedy, given to her by the billionaire Aristotle Onassis in 1968. Almost completely flawless, this 40.42-carat marquise-cut diamond had quite the reputation, known as the Lesotho III diamond as it was the third-largest gem cut from the famous 601-carat Lesotho rough diamond. In 1996, this ring sold at auction for $2.6 million, after being estimated to sell for $500,000-$600,000.

Melania Trump also wears a lavish ring; a flawless 12-carat emerald cut diamond with an estimated value sitting between $2-3 million. Along with a 25-carat diamond ring to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary, it’s an impressive price tag resting on the First Lady’s fingers.

By far the most incredibly-priced engagement ring belonged to Elizabeth Taylor, known for her reputation of owning expensive jewelry. Her engagement ring was an Asscher cut, Krupp 33.19-carat diamond and is deemed one of the largest diamonds privately owned. It’s an exceptional diamond which is chemically pure with high clarity. It was auctioned after her death, and valued at $8.8million.

Of course, all of these engagement rings are incredible, but are not exactly affordable for the average American looking to get engaged. Tacori, an extremely popular brand for engagement rings offer rings that are equally as impressive, but with a more modest price tag than some of the celebrity engagement rings.

For example the white gold Tacori ‘Blooming Beauties’ diamond engagement ring, a beautiful ring with channel set round diamonds graduating in size curving down the ceiling, holds a price tag at only $7,720- much more affordable than some of the celebs rings, but every bit as stunning. Priced at $10,990, it’s a higher end ring but still much more reasonable than the majority of celebrity engagement rings.

Overall, the cost of an engagement ring should not be the main focus of the purchase. Whilst some of these rings boast a monumental price tag and some more affordable, all of these rings were bought for the same reason; a commitment of love.
